Year 8 Lunch/Toilet Bags
Year 8 Pencil CasesYear 8 students made a boxed pencil case with tabs. They combined fabric to make a colour swatch, they learnt how to insert a zip and followed instructions, key stages and demonstrations to complete their outcome.
Year 7 Cushion Making

Year 8 students created a drawstring toilet or possessions bag. They combined four fabrics including a waterproof inner. They made an inner and outer bag, they sewed in eyelet holes for the their cord or fabric drawstrings before sewing the outer and inner bags together.

After Year 7 students have learnt the functions of a sewing machine, they learn to thread up their machine independently, pass a driving licence and then make a cushion inner. Next, they create a colour swatch, working colour successfully, before cutting, pinning and sewing their outer striped or patched cushion.

Year 8 Screen Printing
Year 8 students learn the process of screen printing. They research design ideas, draw and cut out their chosen stencil design precisely onto mylar and then learn the steps to print their stencil onto a tee-shirt in the colour or colours of their choice.

Year 8 Flower making
When Year 8 students return to the Fabrics room for the year, they make flowers. This unit is a great wee unit is a great way to revise and practice using the sewing machine again and they get an outcome to take home.
Year 7 Softie Making
Students revise using a sewing machine and then learn a variety of hand stitching skills. They research softies and design and plan their own softie before creating it using both hand and machine stitching skills.
Year 8 Ipod/Phone Cases

As an Intro to Fabrics project, revising using a sewing machine and hand sewing again, Year 8 students designed and made a phone or ipod case using felt.
